If you voted in Mauldin on Tuesday, your city's penny sales tax passed with just over 54 percent, according to unofficial results. It's estimated to generate $24.5 million, much of it for street projects and a new fire station.
The countywide penny didn't make it. WSPA reports voters rejected it for the second time in two years. The cities' plan sends 80% to capital projects and road repairs and 20% to property tax relief for owner-occupied homes. County officials, the Post and Courier says, will have to go back to the drawing board.
