About this event
Hailing from San Francisco, California, the band began its musical voyage in 1973, emerging from a fusion of talents from Santana, Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch. Originally named the "Golden Gate Rhythm Section," the group soon adopted the name "Journey," a change spurred by a radio contest.
Their early years were a blend of lindetails aseup changes and musical experimentation, as they dabbled in progressive and jazz-rock, eventually evolving into a sound that would define a generation. The band experienced remarkable success during the late '70s and '80s, propelled by their signature sound and the soulful voice of frontman Steve Perry. Perry's vocal prowess became an integral part of their identity, and his emotive performances contributed to the band's chart-topping hits.
